Fall Gets Nutty Around Here
In the kitchen, this is the season for brittle. Something about fall calls for crunchy, salty and sweet brittle, and the orders for this favorite spike from now until around Thanksgiving when tastes shift to the sweetness of chocolate. So, we’re preparing for the rush by ordering in packaging, hiring help, and resting up.
Behind the scenes, we’re exploring new packaging for our bagged nuts. We’ve selected a new bag that is easy to reseal, and now we’re working on graphics that communicate our farm-to-table approach. We plan to roll out the new look after we emerge from the fun business of the fall candy season.
The rest of the farm is staying busy too, with squash and mums ready to sell. Our sister farm, Thistledown Farm, is enjoying the excitement of pumpkin season. There will be plenty of decorative gourds, corn and of course, cider and lots of family fun. We often spend fall weekends helping the family during this very busy time. (They especially like it when we show up with brittle that Rachel has ‘accidentally’ smashed.)
